Founded in 1885, Goucher College was an all-female liberal arts college that later became coed. Marcia McCray designed the college’s logotype using the classical font Bembo, representing the traditional history of Goucher College’s liberal arts curriculum. The Bembo font combined with the modern type Neutraface expresses its innovative spirit and openness.
The college’s innovation derived from building The Athenaeum, a green, sustainable campus building, and was the first college in the United States that required students to study abroad before graduating.
The newly designed logo identity of the institution combined the traditional values of the school and its forward-thinking edge involving the redesign of various collateral pieces.
