Recyclemania started as a competition among college campuses that encouraged everyone, from faculty and staff to students, to take care of the planet by recycling and reusing. The campaign concept focused on the passive and persuasive 1950s culture. Posters and stickers gave information on items that can and cannot be recycled and how to recycle them.
